Want to get better at writing powerful, meaningful functional IFSP outcomes? In this session you will practice writing high quality functional outcomes and learn new strategies to improve your “Conversational Intelligence”. You will spend much of the session in small groups practicing new skills. This is an intermediate-level, practical session. Come prepared to have your camera on and to actively participate in breakout room activities.

Iris has worked with young children and their caregivers for more than 20 years as a daycare provider and preschool teacher. She was a Family Resources Coordinator and ESIT Program Manager for 5 years before she joined the ESIT State Leadership Team as a Technical Assistance Specialist for the NW region of WA state in July 2022. She is the parent of a 16-year-old son with a disability who experienced developmental delays.

Early Supports for Infants and Toddlers, DCYF

Maia’s professional experience includes 14 years as a speech language pathologist in early childhood and medical settings. Maia holds a Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of TX at Austin and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of WA. Maia has worked with the DCYF ESIT State Leadership Team since September 2018, where she develops and implements training and guidance materials for ESIT providers statewide.

ESIT serves a diverse range of families across Washington State from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and religious backgrounds. This workshop will enable providers to work with families to create family goals that reflect the families’ unique concerns and priorities.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Create functional IFSP outcomes using 7 quality components.
  2. Learn three important mindsets to help guide conversations with families.
  3. Demonstrate conversational strategies that lead to the creation of high quality, functional IFSP outcomes.
