Curriculum Modification Workshop: Small Changes that have a Big Impact for all Children FA1

Friday, May 10, 10:30 am–12:30 pm

Pre-Registration Required

Are you wondering how to better support certain children in specific routines or activities? Or maybe you are curious how you can help children be more independent, or ways to decrease behaviors that feel challenging? Join us for an interactive workshop on Curriculum Modifications, part of The Building Blocks Framework (Sandall et al., 2024). This workshop will cover a range of different modifications we can easily implement in ANY early childhood setting (including home, center based programs, and in the community!). Curriculum Modifications are small changes that can have a big impact on how young children participate in daily routines and activities. Join us and plan for curriculum modifications in your setting!

Curriculum and Learning Environment

Presentation Outcomes:
Our goal is for parents, providers, and teachers to feel confident in determining which children might benefit from a curriculum modification, and develop plans to implement these in their home, childcare, school, or community setting. With curriculum modifications in plan, many young children are better able to engage, participate, and be included in their childcare, school, home or community. These tools benefit all children, but are especially useful for children with identified disabilities, children who are multilingual, and children who have expereienced trauma.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Participants will identify three different types of curriculum modifications
  2. Participants will use an assessment tool to determine which children might benefit from curriculum modifications in their setting
  3. Participants will develop a plan to implement at least one curriculum modification in their setting
